He is the current President of the British Veterinary Zoological Society. His wife is an environmental consultant and both his daughters attend state Ilkley schools.

Mark said,
'Across the country thousands of Parish Councils have been writing their Neighbourhood Plans. A Neighbourhood Plan allows a parish council to have much more influence over the future of its community.
Ilkley Parish Council has been dragging its feet on the Neighbourhood Plan and let down the residents of Ilkley by failing to give us a genuine opportunity to influence the future of the place where we live. If I am elected to the Parish Council I will campaign to get the plan back on track.'
